Last month, MercurySteam and 505 Games officially announced Blades of Fire, formally known as Project Iron, as part of IGN FanFest. Launching May 22nd, 2025, Blades of Fire will be available on Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The response to our announcement has been truly wonderful, so before we kick things off, we want to say a massive thank you from the team.

Today, in our first monthly community blog, we want to take a moment to look back at everything we’ve unveiled so far, treat you to some behind the scenes concept art and answer some of your most frequently asked questions. Let’s get started.

ANNOUNCEMENT TRAILER
If you’re new around here, welcome! As mentioned already, during IGN FanFest last month, Blades of Fire was showcased to the outside world for the very first time. In case you missed it, watch our announcement trailer below.

FORGING OUR FIRST PREVIEW EVENT
Just days after announcing Blades of Fire, we made our way to the Quinnell School of Blacksmithing to host our very first preview event. We welcomed press and influencers to not only try their hand at forging in a real-life setting but also play Blades of Fire for the very first time. The sun was shining, the setting was perfect, and we had the best time with great company. A huge thank you to everyone that played a part in making the event a success. We couldn’t have done it without you!

PREVIEWS
Following our preview event, we waited in anticipation for previews to drop. And when they did, they put the biggest smiles on our faces. Want to know more about what press had to say? Here’s a selection of articles for you to enjoy…

LET’S GET PHYSICAL
One of the most frequently asked questions we’ve seen so far is whether we’re looking to launch a physical edition of Blades of Fire. Well, we’re delighted to confirm it’s happening! PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S users can pick up a copy on May 22nd, the same day as our digital launch. Check your preferred retailer for more information and to pre-order.

BLADES OF FIRE – GETTING STARTED VIDEO SERIES
We know many of you are very keen to know more about the world of Blades of Fire. This week, we kicked off our Blades of Fire – Getting Started video series, designed to educate our community on what to expect in game. Episode 1 is now live across our official social media channels. In our first deep dive video, we want to welcome you to the forge. Here’s where you’ll spend a lot of your time crafting weapons that will carry you through your quest. Take a look if you haven’t seen it already…

Before we wrap things up, we want to tackle some of the most frequently asked questions from the community. If there’s something you would like to know, drop us a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible, or we’ll answer your questions in a future blog.

Will there be a physical edition of Blades of Fire?
As mentioned earlier in this blog, yes! Coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the physical edition of Blades of Fire will launch on May 22nd, 2025, the same day as our digital release.

Are there plans for a demo?
There are no plans for a Blades of Fire demo. With how the game has been designed, a demo would only scratch the surface of what Blades of Fire offers. However, with launch just over 2 months away, you don’t have long to wait.

Do you have a creator program?
Yes we do! The 505 Creator Circle is a membership club for content creators who share the same passion we do – gaming! By becoming a member of the 505 Games Creator Circle, you will have the opportunity to enjoy behind the scenes content, unique gifts, access to exclusive events, panel discussions etc. For more information, head to the 505 Games website.

Will there be difficulty modes?
Yes – There will be 3 difficulty modes you can pick from at the start of your adventure. More on this coming soon!

Is Blades of Fire a soulslike game?
Blades of Fire is an action-adventure featuring a unique combat system. There are some soulslike elements, but it is not a true soulslike!

Встречайте Blades of Fire, новый приключенческий экшен в прекрасном, изменчивом и беспощадном мире. Вы – Аран де Лира, перворожденный из Королевского Удела. Пришедшая к власти королева Нерея сотворила чары, обратившие всю сталь мира в камень. Лишь ее чудовищная армия сохранила оружие из божественного металла.

Вам предстоит самим ковать оружие и испытывать его в уникальной боевой системе, став настоящим кузнечным мастером. Развивайте навыки и создавайте оружие под свой стиль боя. Помните: правильный выбор оружия в бою — ключ к успеху. В случае некоторых врагов это будет критически важно.

На пути к цели вы не будете одиноки. Арану всегда готов прийти на помощь верный спутник – Адсо. Он дает полезные советы и всегда окажет ценную поддержку. Адсо умен и безгранично предан вам, а также играет очень важную роль в сюжете! Внимательно слушайте всё, что он говорит. Вам будет чему у него поучиться!

Конечная цель в Blades of Fire ясна, но что кроется за ней — остается загадкой. Эпичное приключение начнется уже скоро. Игра выйдет 22 мая 2025 г.
